Making Criticism More Effective ...
Why will some employees take criticism and others won't? One reason is the theory of making deposits in the staff members' goodwill account. If you have lodged enough good in those accounts (by praise, assistance, concern etc.) it doesn't matter so much when you need to withdraw from that account (by necessary criticism, correction, instruction, etc.).
Put simply: The more you praise an employee, the more the employee is likely to accept criticism when it's necessary to give it.
