I once saw a sign on a wall that gave seven comments on the signs of stagnation. They are: “We’ve never done it that way before.” “We’re not ready for that yet.” “We’re doing all right without it.” “We tried that once before.” “It costs too much.” “That’s not our responsibility.” “It just wouldn’t work.” Have you heard yourself saying those things before? The sign made me ask myself how many times do I say these things to my staff? Of course, when I say something like that, it may be true, but if it stifles the employee’s creativity, my business has taken a step towards stagnation.
