How To Avoid A Competition War ...
Strong-arm tactics against your competitors may be a certain method of sending both of you broke. Instead of a duel to the death, why not get together and agree on policies to benefit all. Perhaps for example:
- Agree to avoid ruinous price cutting.
- Roster hours for after-hours service etc.
- Work out an amiable market segmentation.
- Pool buying orders to reduce costs.
- Loan or sell stock to each other when needed.
- Agree to specialise in different areas and recommend each other for these lines.
- Work together in advertising campaigns.
You can still be competitors, but play the game so that the winner isn’t also a loser. Mutual co-operation can make both businesses more enjoyable and profitable.
