Custom Equipment ...

It is usual when ordering custom built equipment to give detailed specifications of the equipment in the purchase contract. A better method often is to accurately specify what the equipment must produce. Have the supplier agree to test the equipment at its plant to show it can produce the item exactly as required. When you approve of the item, the equipment can then be delivered.

Advantages of this technique include:

  • If the supplier can find a better way to achieve the same result, after discussion with you, that can be incorporated.
  • You don’t have to pay for it until the equipment can do the job.
  • Because the machine is tested at the supplier’s factory, testing causes you less interference.
  • Arguments as to whether the delivered equipment meets specifications is reduced. Your money is not tied up while the supplier makes minor adjustments after delivery.
