Personal Growth and Motivation ...
Someone The Boss Can Rely On ...
If you want to work well with your boss - if you want to be someone he or she relies on - you have to learn what your boss needs:
Procedural disagreements should never appear in public. Discuss them later, in private. Fundamental disagreements mean
the wrong person has been chosen as second-in-command.
Maintain sufficient personal distance to make mutual respect possible. Find the right time to talk things over. Some people
work best at a certain time of day. Some don't want to talk until information has been gathered and decisions can be made,
while others want to be more involved in the process. Some can be informed of actions taken, others must approve them
in advance. Some people want the details, and will draw their own conclusions - others want to discuss concepts and are
bored with the details.
Use your access to a busy boss judiciously. If you never bother him or her with trivialities, you will always get more serious
attention.
