About
The Artist ...
Hazel Mary Cope is arguably now the best known artist living
and working on the Gold Coast Of Australia. She was born in
Farnborough, Kent in the UK and came to live permanently in
Australia in 1977.
Hazel is an intensely passionate and spiritual woman with
a life- long fascination with the beauty of nature. She has
resided permanently on the Gold Coast, in South Eastern Queensland,
Australia since 1980.
Hazel
is a self-taught artist who travelled extensively in Europe,
Africa, America and the Pacific Islands before settling here
in Australia. These cultures and their various wildlife have
all had a powerful influence on her subject matter and her
unusually variable style of painting.
Art lovers from all around the world regularly buy and enjoy
her works. Her paintings hang in galleries and private collections
worldwide.
The Gold Coast City Council purchase her work/s to give as
gifts to overseas dignitaries who visit this exceptionally
beautiful part of Australia. Her works have been given as
gifts to Ambassadors from Japan, China and Taiwan.
Hazel has donated numerous paintings to charities including
Red Cross, Cancer Research, Make A Wish Foundation, Wildcare,
Australian Air League, Bali-Bomb Victims, Kalwan Aboriginal
Corporation, and The Guide Dogs For The Blind Association,
Paradise Kids and Life-Line.
